GAME 1 11:30 a.m. (HST) Tulsa wins 74-51
TULSA STEPHEN F. AUSTIN
(HONOLULU) LYLE DHUR - SPORTVICTORIA
One would expect that, on paper, this would should be Austin all the way but Tulsa has come out in the first half showing incredible grit and are fully in control for the first 20-mintues of the game.
Austin is having a very rough time of it at both ends of the court - on offense they are a turnover machine and when they do get open looks they are find a whole lot of rim. On the defensive end, Tulsa seems to be able to do whatever they want with Austin showing to be a step behind on most every pass.
Austin is working very hard to get a single look at the hoop only to see Tulsa come down and seemingly with little effort get a quick bucket of their own.
In the first half, the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes were a storm of trouble for the S. F. Austin Lumberjacks as Tulsa went into the half-time break with a 40-25 lead on the back of 7-12 shooting from outside the 3-point line.
2nd half started with Austin coming out on a 7-0 run.  Took until 3:14 into the 2nd half for Tulsa to score.
Austin looked like they were going to make a charge but as hard as the Jacks worked, Tulsa just had a little bit more and there was always an answer to anything that Austin brought.
With 5:30 left in the 2nd half, Austin has still not hit a 3-pointer and are only 4-18 on the game from outside the arc.
4:05 to go, Tulsa is up 64-49 and firmly in control of the game.
In the end - it was all Tulsa.  Stephen F. Austin never really challenged.
