by Butch Gayton [Qualicum Beach]  Shawnigan Lake defeated John Barsby 65-36.

 

Shawnigan Lake came out ready to play and jumped to a 10-3 advantage.  By time the dust settled at half, the Stags had the game in their pocket with a dominating 35-16 lead.

 

Suffocating defence and eager shooters led to the Bulldogs demise.

 

Chris DeGoutiere had 13 points for Barsby as he ended a strong senior season.

 

Guard Mostyn Findlay was everywhere for the Stags scoring a team high 15 points.  Mostyn's defense, distribution and knocking down the open jumpers on offense was too much for Barsby to handle.

GAME 6

 

by Butch Gayton [Qualicum Beach]  Woodlands defeated Ladysmith 70-57.

 

The game was much closer than the final score indicates.  Ladysmith kept close all game long trailing 51-48 after 3 quarters.

 

Woodland's Jordan Cox was a dynamic player going a perfect 14-14 from the foul-line as well as knocking down two 3-pointers.  Cox disrupted play and led the break for the Golden Eagles finishing with 22 points.

 

The 49ers found their shooting touch in this game with 3 players in double digits.  Raury Lancaster had 13 points and had a good day on the glass.

GAME 7

 

by Butch Gayton [Qualicum Beach]  Kwalikum defeated Lambrick Park 43-39.

 

It was a very well played game that remained tight throughout.  Lambrick threatened several times to break it open but could not put the feisty Kondors down.  Lambrick led 14-10 after 1 and 26-20 at the half and 34-29 after 3.  The Kondors took the lead with 3 ½ minutes to play 38-36 and sank a few clutch free throws to win 43-39.

GAME 8

St. Michaels returns to the final for the second year in a row after they dismantling Brentwood in the second semi-final game.  St. Michaels Brentwood to just 12 points in the first half and then a mere 10 in the second half.
