GAME 10

by Chris Ball [VICTORIA]  In a rematch of the North Island final from one week ago Highland, from Comox, was able to hold on for a tightly, hard fought game that was close the entire way.  It looked like Highland was in trouble when Nic Tancon and his 38 points fouled out with 4 minutes to go in the fourth.  However, the Barsby Bulldogs were unable to capitalize and the Raiders held on for the 74-71 win.  Sam Lewis had 14 for Highland while John Barsby was led by Chris De Goutiere with 25 and Shawn Arabsky with 17.

GAME 11

by Chris Ball [VICTORIA]  Highland clinched the final spot at the BC's with a tough, grind it out 62-58 win over Brentwood College.   After losing almost their entire line-up from a team that finished second in BC last year, Brentwood put up a spirited fight and took a double digit lead in the second quarter.  The Raiders chipped a way at the lead and by midway through the fourth quarter they had taken the lead.  The game was tied with one minute remaining, and in the last minute Highland was able to force two key turnovers.

Nic Tancon again showed why he will be a player to watch at the BC championships.  In the second half Tancon was able to take over the game while finishing with a game high 34 points. Jared Collins had 14 and Sam Lewis chipped in 10 for Highland.  Brentwood College was led by Devin Cvitanovich with 19.

PLAYER OF THE GAME - Jared Collin (Highland)

GAME 12

by Chris Ball [VICTORIA]  Anyone who witnessed the first five meetings between Lambrick and St. Michaels University School this season probably knew what type of game they were in for.  Fans who were lucky enough to witness this one were treated to an all-time classic.  The teams went back and forth all game long in a battle of momentum swings.  SMUS took a 7-point lead with 5 minutes to go in the fourth quarter.  The Lions then stormed back and took a 2-point lead in the final minute.  SMUS then scored leaving Lambrick the ball with 31 seconds left in a tie game.  Lambrick held the ball for the last shot.  With 5 seconds left, Lambrick guard Ismail Abdulahi made a tough drive to the hoop that just rimmed out.  SMUS grabbed the rebound and smartly outleted to Danny Wu who had a lane to the rim.  Wu drove for the lay-up and released the ball right at the buzzer for the winning hoop, 74-72, and the Island title.  SMUS was led by MVP Jason Skully with 21.  All-stars Danny Wu and Graeme Hyde-Lay had 19 & 18 respectfully.  Lambrick's leading scorers, also all-stars, were Matt Neufeld with a game-high 25 and Ismail Abdulahi with 24.
