GAME 5
by Chris Ball [VICTORIA] One week ago, John Barsby defeated Woodlands in the North Island semi final. Today, it was the same result in the all Nanaimo affair. Chris DeGoutiere did the bulk of the damage for Barsby with 25 points on a combo of drives to the hoop and 3 point shots. Zack Williams kept the Eagles in it with 17, 11 of those coming in the 2nd half.
PLAYER OF THE GAME - Chris DeGoutiere (John Barsby)
GAME 6
by Chris Ball [VICTORIA] Kwalikum managed to get the best of Shawnigan Lake in a defensive struggle. The Stags came into the 2nd half down only three but managed only seven points in the third quarter in part to some stingy D by the Kondors. Kwalikum was led by Evan Stefanek (13) and Ryan Becker (12) while Shawnigan Lake's leading scorer was Phillip Norris (10).
PLAYER OF THE GAME - Evan Stefanek
GAME 7
by Chris Ball [VICTORIA] The tournament hosts put together a very strong defensive effort in a lopsided victory. Lambrick Park held Brentwood to 17 second half points and managed to keep Brentwood off balance so that they were never able to find their offensive rhythm. Lambrick Park's balanced attack was led by Austin Somers (18), Ismail Abdulahi (16), Mitch Bryan (14) and Matt Neufeld (14).
PLAYER OF THE GAME - Austin Somers (Lambrick Park)
GAME 8
by Chris Ball [VICTORIA] The Raiders gave the Blue Jags all they could handle in this one. Highland stretched their lead to as many as seven in the second quarter, with star Nic Tancon and the deadly 3-point shooting of Sam Lewis doing most of the damage. However, St. Michaels University School powerful offense got things going in the second half led by the hot shooting of senior guard Danny Wu. SMUS balanced attack (Wu 20, Graeme Hyde-Lay 14, Jason Skully 14, Jordan Lane 13) proved too much for Highland to handle. Highland was led by Lewis with 23 and Tancon with 17.
PLAYER OF THE GAME - Graeme Hyde-Lay (St. Michaels University School)
